Everything that happens to us happens in purpose. And sometimes, one thing leads to another. Instead of locking yourself up in your cage of fears and crying over past heartaches, embarrassment and failures, treat them as your teachers and they will become your tools in both self improvement and success.

I remember watching Patch Adams – its my favorite movie, actually. Its one great film that will help you improve yourself. Hunter “patch” Adams is a medical student who failed to make it through the board exams. After months of suffering in melancholy, depression and suicidal attempts – he decided to seek for medical attention and voluntarily admitted himself in a psychiatric ward. His months of stay in the hospital led him to meeting different kinds of people. Sick people in that matter. He met a catatonic, a mentally retarded, a schizophrenic and so on. Patch found ways of treating his own ailment and finally realized he has to get back on track. He woke up one morning realizing that after all the failure and pains he has gone through, he still want to become the a doctor. He carries with himself a positive attitude that brought him self improvement and success. He didn’t only improved himself, but also the life of the people around him and the quality of life. Did he succeed? Needless to say, he became the best damn doctor his country has ever known.

Imagine yourself as a Dart Board. Everything and everybody else around you may become Dart Pins, at one point or another. These dart pins will destroy your self confidence and pull you down in ways you won’t even remember. Don’t let them destroy you, or get the best of you. So which dart pins should you avoid?

1)Negative Work Environment

Beware of “dog eat dog” theory where everyone else is fighting just to get ahead. This is where non-appreciative people usually thrive. No one will appreciate your contributions even if you miss lunch and dinner, and stay up late. Most of the time you get to work too much without getting help from people concerned. Stay out of this, it will ruin your self confidence. Competition is at stake anywhere. Be healthy enough to compete, however in a healthy competition that’s.

2) Other People’s Behavior

Bulldozers, brown nosers, gossipmongers, whiners, backstabbers, snipers, people walking wounded, controllers, naggers, complainers, exploders, patronizers, sluffers… all these kinds of people will pose bad vibes for your self esteem, as well as to your self improvement scheme.

3) Altering Environment

You can’t be a green bug on a brown field. Changes challenge our paradigms. It tests our flexibility, adaptability and changes the way we think. Changes will make life difficult for awhile, it may cause stress however it will help us find ways to improve our selves. Change will be there forever, we must be susceptible to it.

4) Past Experience

It’s okay to cry and say “ouch!” when we experience pain. However don’t let pain transform itself into fear. It might grab you by the tail and swing you around. Treat each failure and mistake as a lesson.

5) Negative World View

Are you utilizing your true potential? Did you know that most people do not? Some people tend to settle for less than they can be do have in life. They make excuses for themselves saying that they can not do any better than what they are currently doing. They feel because they have reached one goal they should not set anymore.

Life can be full of challenges however if you are not constantly working towards goals you have set for yourself then chances are you will not live life to its fullest. You do possess so much potential and when you begin to change your habits and become more positive life will begin to go the way you envision it.

Begin at once to realize your true potential and have faith that whatever you set your heart to will become a reality. Quit down talking to yourself and saying things like ” I am not worthy” “I am not good enough” “I can not do that” whatever you are saying to yourself that is negative, change your words. Begin believing in yourself and saying positive affirmations throughout the day.

The more you constantly tell yourself that you do have the true potential to do anything the more your subconscious will believe it and your goals will begin becoming a reality. So what is it that you desire? Write it down and then take the steps to move forward towards it, do not become disappointed if it does not become a reality right away. Remember to always be willing to take a detour if something is not working out the way you desire.

One of the things people do (I have done this as well) is when we want something we tend to stay on the same path regardless of results. Personal development a year on it does take a conscious effort on your part. You fall awake to a full awareness of what you really want in all areas of your life.

You can invent new possibilities and unleash inspiring passions. You can wake up to all the amazing details that make up the life of your dreams. Personal development a year on it; makes you wake up to what you already know, you can recognize all the achievements that you have presently accomplished.

Also personal development a year on it; you become more fully aware of you ability to make things happen and use visualization to make things happen quicker.

It also means you learn to appreciate more wonderfully how things are in your life right now; you do not take anything for granted.

The Power of affirmations if used correctly can change the way you think about life.

If only self improvement advice were free and scattered around everyplace, and then there will be no problem regarding life, happiness and success. However then again, this is life. And it does not work that way.

What can you do if you’re trapped in an environment that you don’t would like to be in? What if you’re sick and tired of your job?

It’s possible to take inspired and motivated action to survive your present situation and live the life you always dreamed of.

We have all heard it the “effects of positive thinking will dramatically change your life.” However this is not entirely true. Astonished? Well you should not be, after all if it was that easy then everyone everywhere would be a student of the personal development philosophy. You can not change alone through will power and just think positive thoughts. While everyone will love to be around you more when you begin to change your thoughts because you will become a much more positive person to be around. Everyone loves to be accompanied by positive minded and happy people. However unfortunately this alone will not bring everything you desire. I have learned through my own adversities and challenges that you can not function alone by just using your own will power. You must learn how to tap into the stillness of the universe and what is embedded deep inside you.

Anyone who has ever achieved anything worthwhile in their lives understands this. I did not and it took me almost three years to realize this. I was attempting to change myself and my life from the outside in. However everything changes from the inside out and you must learn how to begin changing on the inside before you will notice anything changing on the outside.

The effects of positive thinking come about in understanding that whatever you are experiencing right now can and will change. Your thinking will keep you out of the negative; however you must take the time to quiet your mind and begin to give your mind at least 10 minutes a day of pure silence. If you have ever heard of that saying that “duct tape is silver and silence is golden.” This is so true! No matter if you possess a goal setting plan and know exactly where you want to be if you secretly have beliefs that will hold you back; then you will not achieve those goals. You must set goals that you believe or can convince your subconscious mind are true.

You can convince your mind that your goal setting plan can be achieved. If you take your most powerful goal that drives you and write it down on a 3×5 card; every morning and evening just before you go to bed read the goal. As you read your goal see and feel yourself with the emotions that you will possess when you do actually possess the goals.
